Mystery over appearing and disappearing UK PAYG pricing

AppleInsider reports that O2 has published iPhone PAYG pricing for the UK. O2 was quoted on its web site as saying "The new 3G 8GB iPhone for Pay & Go will be available for £299.99 and 16GB for £359.99..". However at the time of writing O2 had removed the details from the website. Whether this was posted early in error or removed due to factual error remains to be seen.

O2 offering iPhone contract sign ups before 11 July?

The MacRumors web site reports that customers may be able to sign up for iPhone 3G contracts in advance of the 11 July launch date. To quote the site: "At least one O2 rep has been telling customers that they will be able to sign up for contracts and rate plans ahead of the 3G launch to help expedite sales on launch day". This would help to explain how Apple plans to get round the fact that you have to buy the phone and activate it in-store, thus creating a potential log jam of new customers in stores around launch time.

Source claims UK iPhone PAYG pricing from £370

Stuff.tv reports that an inside source has claimed that the UK PAYG price for an 8GB iPhone 3G will be £370, rising to £470 for the 16GB model, making it more expensive than the original iPhone.
