Apple unveils 'funnest' iPod touch; Gaming device; iTunes 8 debuts

Apple today unveiled the new iPod touch. Featuring an iPhone 3G-like curved back and external volume controls, the new gadget also boasts a polished metal back. Storage capacity remains the same.

Key features include:

• Built-in speaker, volume controls
• Genius playlist
• Nike+iPod support
• Battery: 36 hours for music, 6 hours for video.

Positioning it as the 'funnest iPod ever', Apple demonstrated several games on the device, with the obvious conclusion that this is to evolve into Apple's own gaming device.

As widely predicted, iTunes 8 was also launched, including a new 'Genius' function that intelligently creates playlists based on a single song. Spooky.
